This information will provide customers with the proper cardboard recycling procedures used by First Piedmont Corporation. These procedures are based on recycling industry standards. Not only are there environmental benefits to cardboard recycling, but also cardboard recycling is considerably less expensive than disposal in a landfill. It generally cost about 30% less to recycle cardboard compared to the cost of landfill disposal. In certain areas, First Piedmont can provide 8 cubic yard front-load containers that are specifically designed for cardboard recycling. We also provide compactors, balers and open-top containers. First Piedmont can work with companies in designing a recycling program. In order for our customers to have a successful recycling program, we must stress the importance of putting only cardboard in the recycling containers. It is very important that all persons using the recycling container be properly trained in what to put in the container. If not, the container will become contaminated, and we will charge the normal pick-up rate for trash service. Also, all cardboard boxes must be broken down before being put in the container to ensure full utilization of space in the container. The following is a list of commonly found contaminants that should not be placed in the cardboard recycling containers. Please review this list with the appropriate people. These items should not be put in the cardboard recycling container: 1. Waxed cardboard 2. Styrofoam of any kind 3. Plastic bags or liners 4. Wet containers 5. Mixed paper (such as office paper, computer paper, cereal boxes, etc.) 6. Beer or beverage drink cartons (including the plastic rings around the top) 7. Cardboard contaminated with food waste, motor oil or any type of waste 8. Miscellaneous items such as wood, plastic, metal, glass, etc. 9. General or household garbage If you have
