First Piedmont Corporation is a full service waste management company. Since our inception in 1969, we have
earned an impeccable reputation for providing safe, reliable, and economical
waste hauling, disposal, and recycling services. First Piedmont’s philosophy is to meet
the needs of our customers by using the most environmentally sound methods
available. Our growth as a company is based on these principles. First Piedmont began as an industrial waste hauling company in Southside Virginia. In 1972, we purchased approximately 125 acres of land just east of Danville, Virginia, on which we constructed the First Piedmont Landfill. In July of 1972, we were issued permit # 65 by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (VDEQ) to operate as an industrial landfill. Our commitment to a safe environment is evident in the operation of the Danville site. We accept only non-hazardous industrial waste including asbestos and “special waste”. A groundwater monitoring system was voluntary implemented in 1978. The landfill has a synthetic liner and leachate collection system. Furthermore, incoming waste is extensively reviewed by First Piedmont prior to acceptance. This review includes analysis, waste characterization, generator certification, MSDS sheets, and sample evaluation. All special waste is subject to review by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality. At First Piedmont we know that the reduction of long-term liability is a critical issue for our clients. We feel that the best way to reduce liability is to adhere to the strictest standards and operate an environmentally safe facility. In addition to the safety measures we employ, we also carry comprehensive insurance including pollution liability coverage.
